It was a very busy weekend for Kerry Macra as all roads lead to Meath to support Kerry Macra’s Queen Louise O’ Connor from Ardfert.
Louise who joined Macra only in March has achieved so much since then. She reached the National final of drama with the kerry macra rainbow team and is now joint Pro of the county and her club Mid Kerry Macra.
Well done to Kerry Macra’s Louise O’Connor who represented Kerry Macra in The Blue Jeans Country Queen Festival over the weekend.
Louise was one of 26 girls that took part. The title went to Dearbhla O’Connor from Louth Macra.
The adjudicating panel took into account appearance, personality, energy, confidence, dress sense, rural knowledge and elocution to choose the contestant which best exuded the qualities of today’s modern rural woman.
Louise was escorted by Sean Joy also a member of the Mid-Kerry club. Sean forfilled his duties extremely well over the course of the weekend.
Each of the Queens were interviewed by the panel of judges privately, before the aspirants to the throne took to the stage at the Darnley Lodge Hotel, where MC Joe Healy put them through their paces in front of a festival audience.
The festival, in its 29th year, also included a street carnival, craft fair, and an ‘I can’t believe you wore that’ disco, while the contestants also took to the mike at Flood’s Bar to show off their singing talents in a karaoke contest. \
Also well done to Mid-Kerry macra who took part in the National Dairy Council tag rugby final on Sunday Morning. Tullamore Macra took home the top title by narrowly defeating Fermoy Macra.
