Austin Stack Park will host the Kerry v ITT game on Sunday.

A NEW season gets underway for the Kerry senior team this Sunday in the McGrath Cup when they play IT Tralee in Austin Stack Park at 2pm.

With the Kerry first team and panel currently in South Africa and scheduled to come back Sunday/Monday, U21 boss Darragh Ó Sé will take the reins in the absence of Eamonn Fitzmaurice.

Former green and gold star, Tommy Walsh, is expected to make a return to Kerry colours during the McGrath Cup at some stage.

After five years down under, this Sunday could be the first time when GAA supporters in the county get to see him in action once again.

In three weeks time Kerry will play their first National League game by renewing acquaintances with Mayo after their summer meetings.

Before that, Kerry will look to blood the youth in the McGrath Cup. If they get over IT Tralee – which they are expected to – it will be the winners of Limerick v UCC in the next round of the competition.

In the meantime, spare a thought for last year’s senior panel who are putting in pre-season training of sorts in South Africa.
