Kerry Projects To Receive €476,000 In Funding

AN announcement of €476,000 in funding for Kerry under the Our Rural Future Digital Innovation Programme has been made today.

The programme funds Local Authority-led innovation projects that provide a public benefit and support regional digital development.

In total €476,800 in funding is awarded to three major projects across the county. Some €200,000 will fund the roll-out of the innovative pilot scheme at Inch Beach over to multiple beaches in Kerry and other public attractions.

Part of the project’s scope is to deliver Disabled Bay parking sensors to provide the Local Authority and public with live information on their status (free / busy).

The scheme also provides for smart sensor technology to monitor the water quality, lifebuoy and asset alarms, digital signage and fund the integration with websites and Apps like discoverkerryand the Atlantic Discovery App and the EPA’s beaches.ie.

The Smart Park Kerry project receives €76,800 to develop a new easy-to-use Disabled Parking application.

The Atlantic Discover Platform has been awarded €200,000 to provide an enhanced digital visitor experience whilst visiting Kerry / the SW / the Atlantic Seaboard.

The platform will provide an authentic brand experience that will increase awareness, direct bookings and physical visits.

Welcoming the news, Minster for Education and Kerry TD, Norma Foley said: “Innovation and creativity has always been at the heart of Kerry’s visitor attractions. I welcome this funding which will provide digital innovation to enhance and improve the imagination, energy and expertise that already supports Kerry’s vibrant tourism sector.”
