Nearly €250,000 Allocated For Kerry Projects

ELEVEN outdoor recreation projects in Kerry are to share €274,476 in funding for their development and enhancement.

The investment, under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS), will be key to enhancing  mountain trails, forest walks, cycleways, rivers, lakes and beaches across the county.

Projects to receive funding include €29,700 for Marketing and promotion of the Kingdom of Kerry Greenways to include the Tralee to Fenit and Listowel to Limerick routes; €30,000 for provision of passing laybys & enhancement at the entrance to Glanageenty Forest Recreation Park and €30,000 for replacement of fencing along River Lee Amenity Walkway (see full list below).

Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Education and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD Norma Foley said: “The facilities and amenities that the Government are providing funding for under this scheme are making a real difference in communities right across Kerry.

“Today’s announcement will hugely benefit the health and well-being of people of all ages and is so important in terms of attracting visitors to our towns and villages. These amenities are here for us all to enjoy.”
