Adrian Benner accepts a Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of his late father Kevin from President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, John Drummey and CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge.

A MAN who made an enormous contribution to the life of the town was honoured posthumously by Tralee Chamber Alliance today, with a special lifetime achievement award.

Kevin Benner of Benners Hardware passed away two weeks ago, after decades in the shop on Bridge Street which became a town institution and known locally as ‘Small’ Benners.

Adrian Benner of Benners, and his wife Delia were in attendance to accept the special award.

Speaking of Kevin and the shop, the President of Tralee Chamber Alliance, John Drummey, said: “‘Small’ Benners Hardware Shop is a very important part of the fabric of Tralee and we were sad to lose Kevin Benner recently, especially so soon after his wife Breda passed away [in March]. It was an honour to remember Kevin and celebrate his life-long devotion to his family, his commitment to serving his customers and for being an all-round gentleman to everyone he met over the years.”

The presentation was made at the announcement of the latest winners of the Tralee Business People Awards for April, May and June 2017 at a business lunch at The Ashe Hotel today (click here for full story).
