THE PRESIDENT of Tralee Lions Club, Michael Higgins, distributed cheques totalling €5,700 raised in a recent Golf Club Classic at Tralee Golf Club.
These funds were distributed to Down Syndrome Kerry, Tralee Carers Association, Pieta House and Tralee Recovery Haven this week.
Funds raised also assisted with the Tralee Community Bus trip coordinated jointly between the Lions Club and the local Community Garda.
President Michael thanked all those who participated by way of sponsoring a team or a tee box. President Michael who will be handing over his chain of office to Fergus Courtney next week, also used the opportunity to thank all Lions Club supporters for their assistance throughout the year with other fundraising events including our annual Christmas Appeal and Table Quiz.
He thanked the Community Gardaí for their input with the annual Community Bus trip. Garda Deirdre Quinn thanked the Lions Club for their continued involvement with the project and how this event is looked forward to each year by so many people in the community.
The club continues to support other local projects to include Tralee Soup Kitchen, Eagle Lodge, Meals on Wheels and Hawley Park School.
