TRALEE Chamber Alliance have teamed up with the Kerry Association in London (KAL) to create more commercial links between Kerry and the UK capital to help create jobs at home and reach more customers.

Over 20 representatives of the KAL and Tralee Chamber Alliance met at an informal networking event in The Abbey Inn Tralee to set the ball rolling on developing strong ties between the two organisations.

London-based Kerry people who attended the meeting included Noel O’Sullivan, Chairman of the London County GAA Board with Dermot O’Grady and Sean Moriarty, both of the Kerry Association London.

The Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Jim Finucane and Arthur Spring TD were among those in attendance who hope that stronger ties will be forged under the Kerry London Business Alliance.

The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “This is the first meeting between the two organisations and we hope to organise three more similar meetings between now and Christmas. We want to find ways of encouraging Kerry business people located in London or who may be considering expanding or relocating their business to think of Tralee as a viable option. By the same token we want them to help Tralee people who might be relocating to the London area thereby offering a readymade network of friends and business partners who have something in common.”

Sean Moriarty from the Kerry Association in London said: “London is a world capital and there are many ideas we have learned there that we can bring back to Kerry. Likewise setting up a business in London is daunting but our members have the expertise and can advise newcomers on the pitfalls. It is a two-way street to help benefit Kerry people on both sides of the Irish Sea.”

The Kerry alliance was co-founded by Kieran Ruttledge of Tralee Chamber Alliance and Sean Moriarty, vice-Chairman of the Kerry Association after the pair met at the National Ploughing Championships last September.

The informal nature of the new alliance will continue with a London V Kerry golf day being planned for early summer at the stunning Tralee Golf Club while further meetings are planned for later this year.
