A LOCAL artist is hosting an exhibition/sale on this Friday, December 2 in aid of Action Lesotho.

Maree O’Connor paints with various media-oils, acrylics and pastels and has completed a series of paintings under the heading ‘Solas agus Tuiscint’.

Inspired by Kerry landscapes, seas and skies, this collection explores the effect of nature on the spirit. The exhibition this Friday takes place in The Daily Grind coffee shop on The Mall at 11am.

All proceeds from the sale of the paintings will go to the Infant Feeding Programme  currently  being run by Action Lesotho. This is a registered charity founded by local man Paul Hanrahan.

“Paul visited Lesotho recently to see how all their programmes are going, but the one that resonated with me is their Infant feeding programme  as I have a grandson the same age as the babies who are receiving vital nutrition daily from Action Lesotho,” said Maree.

“Without this programme, children from 0 to 2 years would have stunted growth or simply not survive. They are trying to extend their programme to 40 children. It costs €300 a year to keep these children alive,” said Maree.

Maree’s last exhibition at The Daily Grind back in July saw her work sell out in record time, so get their early to secure a painting which would make a nice Christmas gift for someone and you would be making a positive impact on a child’s life.
