Fundraising for Pieta House: Míle Buíochas

What an amazing weekend!

Thank you to our club and community for helping us raise awareness and much needed funds, to help Pieta House carry out such vital and fantastic work.

As at 1 pm on Monday last, we have raised an incredible €3,538-that is €2,538 over our initial target. 274 people walked/ran over a distance of 1,425.5 KMS. That is the equivalent of walking from our community to Paris, France!!! Incredible! It was a world wide effort with people from the four corners of Ireland along with past players/members residing around the world in London, Dubai, Boston, Sydney and Canada to name but a few.

On behalf of Milltown/Castlemaine GAA Club- to everyone that walked, ran, donated or cheered people on along the way, thank you sincerely for your support, your efforts, your generosity and good will. The donation page will remain open until midweek when Pieta House will close it. Please feel free to visit the link on our FB page to donate until this time.

Thank you to all the families that sent in photos/videos of their activities and their canine friends! Danny McClure from our PRO team did a super job uploading them to our FB page over the weekend which brought many smiles to our faces and uplifted our spirits. Maith thú Danny.

Comhghairdeas:

The stork was busy last week delivering a baby girl to our two club members Lorraine O’ Sullivan and Liam Burke. We hope your little girl will bring you lots of joy and happiness and not too many sleepless nights!!

Back to Work:

We wish all those who have returned to the work force every good wish as they adjust to work mid Covid. We particularly commend all those who went the extra mile ensuring necessary services were maintained over the past 8 weeks.

We wish business owners every success as they strive to recover from the losses incurred during lock down.As the song goes ‘We’re all in this together’, so let’s support all the small local businesses.

College Students:

We think of all those doing exams at present and in the coming weeks. May you be rewarded for your hard work and resilience in what has been very challenging times for you and your tutors/lecturers.

Field Development:

We are delighted to report good news of progress in relation to our Field Development. Allman Bros. who did such a fine job on phase 1- namely our training ground has been awarded the contract for phase 2.

Its fleet of machinery has arrived on site to remove all the topsoil before the draining process begins. Dramatic changes will be seen over the next 3-4 weeks with goalposts, railings, scoreboard and lights removed to make way for the realignment and laying of the new pitch. Follow the progress on the Club website and FB Page over the next few weeks.
