Nearly €180,000 In Funding For Six Kerry Projects

MINISTER for Rural and Community Development , Heather Humphreys TD, has announced over €4.2 million in funding to support schools, playgrounds, infrastructure projects and community organisations across Rural Ireland.

The funding includes €179,191 for six Kerry projects which are as follows…

• €21,487.50 — for Firies Sports Facility CLG (in association with Kerry Parents and Friends, Firies NS and Farranfore Maine Valley Athletic Club). Install a cabin with two integrated wheelchair accessible toilets with a ramp and a storage unit.

• €12,600 — to install speed reducing signage with driver feedback and child awareness signage at Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Lixnaw.

• €36,154.19 for the refurbishment of the existing playground at Brandon.

• €44,550 — This will be provided for traffic calming measures at the northern end of Gneeveguilla village in the vicinity of National School. Construction of a footpath for a distance of 90m on the eastern side of the roadway adjacent to the School Carpark and the GAA Community Centre. Reconfigure the existing pedestrian crossing to a raised table type crossing. Digital driver feedback signs on the Northern and Southern approaches and providing the necessary road lining & road markings.

• €50,000 — for Kilgarvan GAA Hurling & Football Club working with Kilgarvan Ag Rith and other local groups (Kilgarvan Sports & Outdoor Recreation Area). Installation of bicycle racks, outdoor bowling area, picnic area, parking infrastructure, disability parking and biodiversity landscaping.

• €14,400 — for  Scoil Réalt na Mara, Cromane N.S to erect child safety signs on approach roads to school. Purchase of digital speed safety signs. Upgrade road markings on approach to the school.

The funding comes under Department of Rural and Community Development’s CLÁR Programme, which is a key part of ‘Our Rural Future’, the Government’s five year strategy to revitalise  rural towns and villages.
