Over €460,000 In Funding For Community Projects In Kerry

THERE will be €460, 548 in CLÁR funding made available to support 10 community projects in Kerry.

In this latest tranche of funding, sports clubs, schools and community groups across the county (see full list below) will receive grants of up to €50,000 to develop a wide and diverse range of community facilities in rural areas.

Successful projects include the development of playground facilities, running tracks and beach walkways alongside community gyms and public toilets.

Welcoming the news, Kerry Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for Education, Norma Foley said: “At a time when the spirit of community has never been more valuable, this funding will help to enhance and upgrade a number of community projects. This includes the development of a number of playgrounds and outdoor facilities which greatly enrich the local amenities in those areas.”

• Causeway Community Action Group: Development of a children’s playground amenity or park in the village. €50,000
• Kilgobnet National School Beaufort: Development of the playground for use by the whole community. €47,269
• Scoil on Ghleanna Daingean Ui Chuis:     Playground facilities for local community including inclusive equipment.  €50,000
• Beal Beach Asdee Community  Development Association in conjunction with Kerry County Council:  Upgrade of the existing beach access providing a new pathway with steps and a pedestrian handrail to provide safe access onto the scenic Beale Strand Beach. €50,000
• Fires GAA Club: Develop Molahiffe Railway Amenity Walkway to include the following; provision of a pedestrian access point with suitable heritage signage giving the local history of the walkway. Develop car parking, bike shelter and picnic area at the western end of the walkway. €50,000
• Currow Rural Development: A landscaped garden with paths suitable for wheelchair users and people with mobility issues. €48,544
• Renard GAA Club: Development of a walking running track and asphalt finish to area in front of club house. €50,000
• Ballylongford Playground Development Committee: Extension to existing playground developing a community outdoor exercise area along with additional playground equipment €50,000
• Templenoe GAA Club: Develop a large range gym suitable for all ages and accessible to all users including people with a disability. €14,735
• Annascaul GAA: Extension to Annascaul GAA for a community gym along with a meeting room, a storage room and public toilets for the entire community. €50,000
