Watermain works will take place from Moyderwell Cross to the grotto at Boherbee over the next five weeks.

THERE will be watermain works taking place over the coming weeks from Moyderwell Cross down to the grotto in Boherbee. As a result, a one-way traffic system will come into effect.

Responding to a request for information on the works from Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kerry County Council said on Friday that the works carried out by Coffey Northumbrian Ltd for Irish Water will start today (Monday) and continue for the next five weeks.

“There will be a one-way traffic system, involving Edward Street, John Joe Sheehy Road, Boherbee and Upper Castle Street, in place. Traffic will be allowed ‘down’ Boherbee [towards town] from the Grotto end and outward traffic will divert from Edward Street.”

“The Benners – Moyderwell length is also to be subsequently done (after) in the coming period, but the exact time schedule for this section has not yet been decided. There are issues, including that of traffic, to be resolved. No decision has been made on the traffic system for that part of the job. A Road Opening Licence has not yet been issued by KCC to the contractor for that part of the job,” reads the statement from Kerry County Council.

The Chamber said it will continue to engage with the Council to provide updates for the public and the wider business community.
