Over €1.5m For Upgrade Work At 13 Community Centres In Kerry

FUNDING of €1,531,268 has been granted for 13 key community centre upgrade projects in Kerry.

This project is being delivered under the new Community Centre Investment Fund that represents the largest-ever capital revenue in this area and will see grants of between €25,000 to €300,000 provided to successful projects.

The funding will be used to upgrade, renovate and refurbish Community Centres, Parish Halls, Scouts Clubs, Youth Hubs, Family Resources Centres and Sports Complexes across the country.

The 13 Kerry organisations to receive funding are:

• Ballybunion Community Centre €300,000.00
• Ardfert Community Council €300,000.00
• Castlemaine Community Services Group €123,809.52
• Muckross Community Association €19,667.25
• Lixnaw Community Centre €25,000.00
• Causeway And District Resource, Daycare, Recreational And Social Development €92,723.50
• Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith Triúigh  €100,000.00
• Camp Community Council Company €50,295.70
• Kilgarvan Community Council €97,913.85
• Ballyheigue Social Economy Enterprises  €39,025.01
• Lyreacrompane Community Development €19,846.50
• Knocknagoshel Community Centre €120,190.48
• Listowel Community Centre €242,796.79

Welcoming the announcement, Kerry TD and Minister for Education Norma Foley said: “This is welcome funding that will provide for the enhancement and upgrading of 13 key community groups across Kerry. This revenue will ensure these community hubs can improve their facilities and grow and thrive, continuing to provide excellent care and vital services to the heart of Kerry communities.”
