The show also had a one-minute reach – the net number of people who watched a minute-plus – of over 1.3 million across both nights. The audience grew among the 15-34 age group from 45.5% to 53.7%. The RTÉ Player recorded over 139,600 streams to date from both nights across 69 countries.

Meanwhile, Steve Cronly, Director of Operations at the Rose of Tralee International Festival, said they were delighted with this year’s event.

“It was a great festival, I think connecting up with Féile Thrá Lí has been a huge success for us with regards to being able to get support from the vintners in passing on the entertainment side to them. I think that is the way forward.”

With regard to next year, he said it looks like the Munster Technological University is the most favoured venue again for the selection nights. There was no Rose Ball this year but could it come back in some form?

“We would love to do it, but it’s just the costs associated with it. The Ball has been such an iconic part of the festival. Who knows, maybe we could do a smaller one in one of the hotels in town and we’re looking at that too,” said Steve.
