THE giddiness, the high-pitched squeals, the nerves…and that’s just the teachers.
Christmas concerts are in full swing in schools all over town, a time when pupils get to impress their families and classmates with their prodigious acting and singing talents.
We visited Presentation Primary on Tuesday morning when the third to sixth classes put on a fantastic and wide-ranging show for the rest of the school.

The third class pupils performed a ‘Colours Of The Rainbow’ musical segment and fourth class pupils sang the Beatles songs ‘Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da’, ‘Yellow Submarine’, ‘Hey Jude’ and ‘Octopuses Garden’.
Fifth class pupils sang songs from ‘Oliver’, while sixth class pupils did Irish dancing and a show called ‘Lights, Camera, Action’. Something for everyone then.
Teacher Helena Hennessy explained why they included The Beatles in the show.
“We all love the Beatles, but so do the girls here. Their moms and dads would be be listening to them over the years and the pupils actually love the music and think they’re really cool,” said Helena.
“The hype has been amazing all through the school for this concerts. It creates such a wonderful atmosphere from juniors right up to sixth. It’s also great for building confidence in the girls. They love it,” added Helena. Scroll down for photos…
