THERE was a great turnout at St Pats GAA club grounds in Blennerville on Sunday as the club held its Health Club Launch and Family Fun Day.

St Pats has become part of the Irish Life Healthy Clubs nationwide GAA initiative. Families from club and the community turned out to support our event and thankfully the rain stayed away so everyone could enjoy the activities.

Parents and Bridget O‘Riordan from the club coordinated the childrens food and there was a great display of healthy options to choose from. They also had delicious options from Muerte BBQ and 2-Beans-in-a-Box.

Chartered physiotherapist Mark Thompson, of Fairies Cross Medical Centre, gave his time for free advice on all matters physiotherapy / orthotics.

Minor team manager Eoin Sayers and former Kerry player and manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice had a chat with the kids on healthy habits growing up, both with choices in what they eat and their habits off and on the field.

There was a very competitive U11 boys vs U12+ girls match, Tug-of-War challenges, slow bicycle races, welly throwing and much more.

The Intergenerational Rounders proved a big hi for all 50+ that joined in the two matches and the club plans to keep the rounders going on a monthly basis on a Sunday afternoon. It was a fantastic community event and well done to all involved. Scroll down for photos…
