IT couldn’t have gone better really.

Big crowds, good weather and a festive atmosphere made the opening day of Tralee Food Festival a roaring success on Saturday.

From 10am onwards, the crowds gathered to browse the food stalls and experience the family entertainment at the Island of Geese and in The Square.

The ‘Goldilocks’ weather (not too hot to draw people to beaches, no rain to drive people to shelter) really helped and any fears the Kerry match would draw too many people away and spoil the atmosphere proved unfounded.

The Taste Trail was well supported as always while cookery demos at the Calor Kitchen in The Square literally gave attendees food for thought in their own kitchen.
