ROUNDY’S Bar was the venue last night for a special fundraiser for the Sera Husky Animal Rescue Charity.
The promotion of the event got off to a bad start earlier this month, when some youngsters stole raffle cards from their shop on Rock Street and tried selling lines down in the Square.
Maurice Enright of the charity told us on Thursday night, that the culprits were caught but, because they were minors, not much could be done about it.

It certainly didn’t put a dampener on the night, as a good crowd showed up for the general knowledge quiz to help the charity, which needs all the funds it can get to keep up the good work at its shelter in Lisselton.
“It [the table quiz] is really to help cover vets’ bills which are the main thing. We get a really good deal from our vets, but it still costs money,” said Maurice. “Events like this are great to get the volunteers together for a night out and Tralee has really supported us with spot prizes,” he said.
It’s not just dogs that the shelter handles as Maurice explained.
“We have 15 species of animals – we have a reptile house as well with snakes geckos spiders – donkeys, pigs, cats, goats, birds. We’ll rescue anything. We actually rescued four goats this morning and they’ve been re-homed,” he said.
Judging by the atmosphere when we were there, it was set to be a great night.
