CONDITIONS were ideal for the second annual Tom Crean Unsung Hero Cycle, in aid of Down Syndrome Kerry at Ballyseedy Home & Garden on Saturday.
The sun had yet to come out, but it was dry as hundreds of cyclists took to the road. There were some sporting legends to lend their support too in the shape of Kerry greats Kieran Donaghy, John O’Keeffe, Jimmy Deenihan and Aidan O’Mahony, while former Irish and Munster rugby player David Wallace led them out on the road.
The event has no fee to participate – but all donations to DSI Kerry are gratefully welcomed. The event is in partnership with the Tour de Munster, the annual charity cycle entering its 19th year this August.

The event pays homage to renowned explorer Tom Crean and also remembers DSI Kerry member, Emily Keohane from Tralee who sadly passed away in 2017.
The cycle included a 75km or 44km cycle setting out from Ballyseedy at 10am, going west through Camp, before lunch in Annascaul. The route continues on to Inch Beach and Castlemaine, before heading back to Ballyseedy to enjoy a BBQ, music and family fun. Scroll down for photos…
