TRALEE photographer, John Cleary’s new book ‘T’was Only Like Yesterday’ is a great stocking filler this Christmas.
The follow up to ‘Through The Lens’ — which featured images of life in Tralee in and Kerry in the 1970s — his latest book of photographs concentrates on the 1980s with images from sporting, religious, social and political life all contained therein.
John has given us a number of images to feature here to give a glimpse of what to expect.

Kerry Senior Hurling team 1987. This Kerry hurling team defeated Laois by 1 – 18 to 1 – 11 in the National Hurling League, Division 2 at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney on Sunday, 2 March 1987.
This win ensured that Kerry retained their position in Division 2 for that year. John Barry, writing in the Kerryman newspaper called it ‘a mighty win’.
