KERRY’S tech community shone brightly at the Tech Industry Alliance Leaders Awards last Friday night as the South West’s tech community descended at a black tie gala event in Cork on Friday night.

The Tech Industry Alliance is the new brand for KerrySciTech and it@cork and this is the first year that the awards have been held under the new brand name.

The ceremony recognises individuals and organisations which are striving to drive innovative leadership, excellence and overall positive impact in our business ecosystem in the South-West region.

The event attracted over 120 nominations and entrants this year, with Kerry companies holding their own in a strongly contested competition this year.

Kerry finalists included JRI America, Astellas, Aspen Grove, Liebherr, Graphite Note, Xavatar and CBS the Green ( the first Kerry school to reach a final of these awards) all making it to the final for their significant contribution to the growth and success of the local and national economy.

The winner of the Tech Industry Alliance Tech Start-Up of Year CergenX which is a UCC spin out after years of research in the INFANT Center led by Dr Geraldine Boylan, whose native county is Kerry.

Other winners of awards included Everseen, Solarwinds, Skillbase and McEgan College. Frank Madden received the Tech Person of the Year  award for his signifcant contribution to innovation in  the region.

Attending the event, Moira Murrell, Chief Executive Officer of Kerry County Council acknowledged all the work of all the various agencies and business supports across the region: “Tonight’s event showcased not only the high calibre of companies operating across Kerry and Cork, but also the deep collaboration and cooperation between industry, agencies, local government and education to ensure our region’s prosperity.  I congratulate all the finalists and winners whose successful stories are laying a strong foundation for our local and national economies.” Scroll down for photos…
