KERRY College recently hosted a vibrant ‘Industry Links Afternoon Gathering’ at its Clash Road Campus in Tralee.

The event showcased the college’s dedication to fostering meaningful connections between further education and industry ensuring that its programmes remain relevant and responsive to current industry needs.

Industry Liaison Officer Kay Lanigan Ryan and Work Placement Coordinator Helen Brick organised the event which saw Kerry College welcoming representatives from Kerry County Childcare Committee to engage with childcare teachers from across its campuses.

Amy Pryal, the Childminding Development Officer at Kerry County Childcare Committee, delivered an enlightening session, providing updates on funding programmes and upcoming changes in early years care and education.

Kerry College has been at the forefront of childcare education for years and more recently embraced the delivery of the new highly acclaimed Certificate and Advanced Certificates in Early Learning and Care.

Imelda Matchett, teacher and course co-ordinator of the Level 6 Early Learning and Care programme at Clash Road campus, said “maintaining close links with Kerry County Childcare Committee is paramount as a teacher on the Early Learning and Care programme.  These connections offer invaluable insights into industry trends, challenges and legislative changes.  Ultimately, these partnerships enhance our programme, ensuring our students are well prepared to make meaningful contributions to the Early Years Sector”.

Speaking about the Kerry College event, Kay and Helen both expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating; “We are thrilled to facilitate opportunities for teachers and industry professionals to come together, exchange knowledge, and explore opportunities for collaboration. Events like these reinforce Kerry College’s position as a hub for innovation and excellence in education.”

The event, held in the college restaurant and hosted by the QQI Professional Cookery and Hospitality Students, with attendees treated to culinary delights prepared by current students, showcasing their skills and dedication to their craft.
