THE three-day conference marking the centenary of the Civil War saw a sold-out opening last night in Siamsa Tire.
The Kerry Civil War Conference, which continues today and Saturday, brings together a wide range of local, national and international experts, historians and academics to discuss the conflict and its legacy.
The conference opened with a keynote address, ‘Faith, Reason and Betrayal: The Irish Civil War’ given by Professor Diarmaid Ferriter, University College Dublin.

Among the attendees were many local politicians, historians, conference speakers and author Thomas Kenneally of ‘Schinder’s Ark’ fame, who attended with his wife Judy.

The event will conclude on Saturday evening with ‘Their Memory Will Endure’, a concert which will bring to life the songs of the Civil War period, amplified with poetry, letters, drama, dance and audio-visual material. Scroll down for photos…
