THE noise was incredible as the Ballyheigue GAA ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestants took to the floor for the opening dance and it set the tone for a fantastic night in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
This was the club’s first trip to ‘Strictly-land’ and it’s one they’re sure to re-visit after it was a sell-out success with around 500 supporters packing into the venue.
Creative director, Joe Burkett, had all 11 couples in fantastic shape and they wowed the crowds with various styles of dance throughout the night.
The judges, Mary O’Donnell, Sharon Phelan, John Brassil and Danny Leane, thoroughly enjoyed it too and were tasked with picking a winner.
They went for Pa O’Regan and Elaine O’Donoghue who danced the Charleston, while Brendan Moriarty and Teresa Gaynor’s waltz captured the public vote.
The proceeds from the evening will go towards the further development of the juvenile teams in both hurling and football and also their senior hurling team, to ensure the club’s growth in the future. Scroll down for photos (we’ll have photos of people enjoying the night later)…
