THERE was a large crowd at the Lakeside Cafe at Tralee Bay Wetlands on Friday as Miss Kerry hosted a coffee morning in aid of the Kerry Mental Health Association (KMHA).

Leah Galloway from Ballyheigue received great support from her home village and beyond, as coffee and treats were served up from 11am to 1pm.

Renowned fashion designer Don O’Neill and his husband Pascal Guillermie lent their support to the event which coincided with the KMHA’s #TieDayFriday where everyone was encouraged to wear a tie.

As part of being Miss Kerry, Leah, a nursing student, had to choose a charity to work with.

“Kerry Mental Health Association really stood out for me as they really make an impact on people’s lives and help people who are going through challenging times. They’re a charity I really wanted to work with,” she said.

The event was part of the Kerry Mental Health & Wellbeing Fest being held from October 7-14. A record-breaking number of free in-person and online events are taking place during the week where the key focus is to promote mental health and wellbeing in Kerry through a diverse programme of fun, informative and interactive events.
