THE pupils, parents and teachers of Moyderwell Mercy Primary School left the books and pencils behind as they participated in Walk a Mile with A Smile around Tralee Town Park on Thursday.
This was an event organised in conjunction with Tralee Active Travel and Kerry County Council as part of European Mobility Week to encourage pupils and parents to take up walking or cycling as an alternative to using their cars for every journey.
The sunshine added to the atmosphere during the walk around Tralee Town Park where the boys and girls gathered fallen leaves and horse chestnuts for their classroom nature tables.
When the walk was over, parents and pupils gathered in the school hall for a very exciting school raffle. The prizes included an impressive bicycle, footballs, soccer balls, skipping ropes, swimming goggles and many more exciting items of sports equipment. Parents were also included in a raffle for Super Valu vouchers.
The school gave a huge thanks to Anna Meria Costello in Kerry County Council, the Department of Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport for supporting this initiative. Scroll down for photos…
