FOUR primary schools took part in a special spikeball tournament at Mercy Mounthawk Gym on Wednesday.
Caherleaheen, Scoil Eoin, Spa and O’Brennan schools had a really enjoyable morning fielding a number of teams on the day organised by TY students from Mounthawk which coincided with the school’s Health Promotion Week.
“Caherleaheen won blitz one and Spa won blitz two,” said Mounthawk teacher Olivia Dineen. “We had over 200 primary school students taking part. Our TYs coached them for six weeks as part of a Volleyball Ireland course whereby the TYs get trained and then go out to schools.
“It was a hugely enjoyable day and our TYs learned about the organisation needed to run a blitz for such big numbers aswell as developing their coaching and leadership skills,” said Olivia. Scroll down for photos…
