THE time spent in Presentation Secondary School was celebrated yesterday as Sixth Year students enjoyed the annual graduation day.
Staff, students and families gathered in St John’s Church where Fr Seamus Lindane celebrated Mass. This was followed by speeches by the Deputy Principal Chrissie Kelly, Principal Mary O’Keeffe and Chairperson of the Board Of Management, Mairead Griffin.
Two Head Girls, Aoife O’Sullivan and Katie Ahern, also spoke and certificates of completion and graduation were awarded to each of the girls, along with a specially commissioned Brian de Staic necklace cross and chain.

Everyone then went back to the school to enjoy refreshments and students opened their ‘time capsule’ letters.
“When they came into First Year, they would have written letters to themselves to be opened at the end of Sixth Year,” Principal Mary O’Keeffe explained. “It also included little bits and pieces to do with their lives at that time. The art teacher held onto them for the last five or six years and they were handed back to them today. It’s a celebration of their school lives here from beginning to end,” said Ms O’Keeffe.
“We had a very successful day and it’s a nice celebration, but the really important time now for the students is the next few weeks, so we all want to wish them the very best as they face into the exams,” added Ms O’Keeffe. Scroll down for photos…
