TRALEE Rotary Club, in association with An Garda Siochana, Red Cross, Kerry County Fire Department presented an event at Mercy Mounthawk on Friday, aimed at raising awareness of the dangers on our roads.

As part of Tralee Rotary Club’s plan for the year, they decided to introduce the ‘Just One Life’ Driver Awareness programme to Tralee schools.

The award-winning road safety initiative is aimed at Transition year students and young people with the  objective of saving young drivers’ lives.

This is done by demonstrating the common causes of accidents to 15-17 year old students in a practical manner.

Transition year students from CBS The Green and Mercy Mounthawk gathered in the school gym to hear talks by members of the emergency services.

Afterwards, there was a simulated road accident where a man had to be cut out of a vehicle and students got a sense of what goes on when a serious road incident takes place. Scroll down for photos…
