THERE was great style on show last night as Mercy Mounthawk’s annual fashion show went ahead as a ‘hybrid’ event…and they even received the support of a famous rock star!

The Transition Year students pulled out all the stops to put on an entertaining show, enjoyed in person by their fellow TY students and at home by other students and families as the show was live-streamed.

The beneficiary charity was the Kerry Cancer Support Group and one famous musician donated €5,000 to the cause, bringing the total raised so far to nearly €9,000.

The students were asked to source some well-known people to make a short video message of support to be screened on the night.

Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol.

A parent of one of the students has a connection with the family of Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and instead of delivering a message, he generously donated €5,000 instead to the charity.

The theme of this year’s show was “Green is the new Black” which highlights the importance of sustainability in our fashion choices.

The TYs along with their teachers Ms Stacey O’Leary and Ms Mari Kearney (fashion show coordinators), Ms Charlotte Tansley, Ms Molly Giltentane and Ms Rachel O’Neill (music and dance teachers) Mr Will Nolan, Mr Ronan Redican, Ms Maire Ní Dheargáin and Mr Shane Scanlon had been working very hard over the last number of weeks to put the show together and they did a fantastic job.

They showcased some new designs from That’s Perfect Tralee, Sean Husseys, Ryle Menswear and many more. Scroll down for photos…
