IT was a special morning as thousands made their way to CBS The Green for the second annual ‘Darkness Into Light’ Tralee walk held in aid of Pieta House.
Numbers were difficult to quantify, but one of the organisers we spoke to this morning thought it may have even surpassed the 4,000+ who took part in last year’s event,
They were part of 150,000 people who took part in walks in Kerry and around the country, to remember those lost to suicide and to highlight that there is help out there for people suffering with mental health issues.

The current Kerry Rose cut the tape to set the masses off at 4.15am, as musician Danny Goggin sang ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ to the thousands passing by.
They made their way on a route which took them through the town and into the Town Park, then back to the CBS where refreshments were provided by Kirby’s Brogue Inn and MJ’s Diner.
It was an inspiring show of community spirit once again and all involved – participants and organisers – are to be commended for their efforts.
Jerry Walsh uploaded a video to Youtube (below) of the people taking part, and you can scroll down for photos…
Inspiring. Well done.
