A NURSE from Cork was the big winner at at McElligott’s Honda Ladies Day at Listowel Races on Friday.
Maritess McCarthy glamorous red dress was a big hit with judge Celia Holman Lee, who had a very difficult job such was the style on shoes.
Maritess, who is originally from the Philippines, is a nurse in Cork University Hospital but previously worked in Kerry General Hospital many years ago.

She picked up a cheque for €500 and a luxury hamper from McGuire’s Pharmacy in Listowel for her efforts.
There was also a local winner on the day when Deirdre Kissane won Most Contemporary New Season Look, winning €250 and a bouquet of flowers, while Niamh Lordan won Best Headpiece and also picked up a cheque for €500.
As well as the winners, there were seven other finalists who all went away with a goodie bag and fond memories of their time in Listowel this week. Scroll down for photos…
