Sr. Bríd Clifford accepts the cheque on behalf of Cuan Mhuire, from students with staff members Sheila O’Connell, Bernie O’Connor, Deputy Principal Chrissie Kelly and Norma Foley.

A FUNDRAISING lunch for organised by Presentation students for staff at the school raised €1,600 for Cuan Mhuire.

On May 11, staff members were treated to a wonderful selection of quiches, cold meats and salads followed by desserts and tea/coffee – all prepared freshly by the TY students from Ms O’Connor’s Home Economic class and served up very professionally by them afterwards.

Presentation Tralee has a very special connection with Cuan Mhuire as the former Principal, Sr. Bríd, works there as a counsellor and staff and students of the school are very proud of her dedication and time spent helping people experiencing addiction.

Cuan Mhuire is Ireland’s largest voluntary provider of Rehabilitation Treatment for individuals suffering from addiction and other related issues.  Since its formation in 1966 by Sr. Consilio, Cuan Mhuire has treated over 75,000 people.

The school thanked the sponsors – Dunnes Stores, Maguire’s Butchers, Tesco and Waddings Butchers – as a very substantial amount has been raised for Cuan Mhuire. All students in Presentation took part in the annual no-uniform day  – paying €2 for the pleasure !- which also contributed to the funds raised.
