Shane Conway had a point for Lixnaw after thirty seconds, but that was good as it got for a depleted Lixnaw as three and a half minutes later Shane Nolan won a penalty and blasted to the net.

Crotta were never threatened from there on. With eighteen minutes on the hourglass Crotta led by nine points, 2-5 to 0-3, Shane Nolan scoring his second goal.

At halftime Crotta led 2-9 to 0-4, Shane Nolan with a tally of 2-5, Jordan Conway with two points and Barry O’Mahony tapping over two points, all the Lixnaw scores came from Shane Conway.

Shane Conway opened the scoring in the second half with a point for Lixnaw, Jordan Conway rattled the net for Crotta a minute and half later.

Shane Nolan had his third goal after seven and a half minutes, his tally for the second half was 1-3.

Shane Conway added four points for Lixnaw with Conor Fitzmaurice and Jason Walace adding a point each.

Crotta are setting out their stall early this season and they have quite a panel of players chomping at the bit to be on the team sheet for the championship.

Lixnaw, on the other hand, are struggling in the early rounds of the County League and will not have a chance to have a hurling training session for a few weeks.

They were flying this time last year and will be hoping that with the return of their absent players they will be a match for anybody come the summer.

I haven’t seen Liam Mullins feature yet this season for Lixnaw after his exploits with UCC.
