Rise In New Car Sales In Kerry Last Month Compared To March 2020

THERE was a rise in new car sales in Kerry last month compared to March 2020 according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).

There were 185 new car registrations in the county in March 2021 compared to 148 in the same month last year, an increase of 25%.

In the first three months of this year there have been 1,092 new car sales in Kerry while last year there were 1,147 in the same period, a decrease of 4.8%.

So far this year, Toyota is the most popular make of car with 115 units sold, followed by  Hyundai (144), Ford (136), Volkswagen (121) and Skoda (107).

The Hyundai Tucson is the most popular make sold this year with 76 units, followed by Ford Focus (51), Kia Sportage (44), Toyota Corolla (43) and Ford Kuga (39).

Diesel cars were the most popular engine type in 469 units with 319 petrol. The green option continues it’s surge with 178 petrol/electric sold, a rise of 26% on the same period in 2020, 44 diesel/electric (+1,000%), 44 electric (+51.72%) and 38 petrol/plug-in electric hybrid (+111.11%).
