Set in Ireland in the 1990’s, The Gypsy Girl tells the story of the unstoppable fallout from a one-off, unplanned sexual encounter, between a young married traveller girl and a settled man.

“Thanks to everyone on the PJ O’Connor Radio Drama Awards team and also the judges, Jesper Bergmann, Stihi Ilinca, Soila Valkama,” said Rory. “Congratulations to the winner Robert Barrett, runner up Kenneth Sweeney and of course everyone shortlisted. Finally well done to everybody who sat down, wrote a play and entered it in the competition, keep it up and best of luck with all of your writing in the future!”

Rory is no stranger to media awards success, having filmed, edited and directed ‘Rockumentary’, the film charting Austin Stacks county championship win in 2014 which won a GAA McNamee Award.
