RTE star Dáithí Ó Sé has had hair restoration treatment at the Cosmetic and Hair Restoration Clinic (CHRC) at the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee (BSHT) and they have announced Dáithí as the Clinic’s hair restoration Brand Ambassador.

The team at the CHRC felt that with the help of a Brand Ambassador, awareness could be created around the various treatment options available at the CHRC in Tralee for people experiencing hair loss.

Dáithí says: “In the last few years, I noticed my hairline receding faster than I had hoped for, and my hair was getting really thin on top. This bothered me, and I’d guess it bothers many other men my age and even younger. I just didn’t want to talk about it. Of course, I realised the problem wouldn’t just go away. Well , life’s too short and it was time for me to do something about it. My job is about having confidence in yourself, something that was being affected just like my hair line, but not anymore! When I look back at pictures from last year, I can really see the difference. It’s mad really!”

“It was an easy decision to become a brand ambassador for the CHRC. I only ever become an ambassador when I can stand over something I believe in. I’ve been through the procedure and had the most amazing experience, and of course, the results speak for themselves. I’m thrilled with my new head of hair and the confidence it has given me.”

CHRC Client Liaison, Nicole McEllistrim says: “Dáithí’s popularity with the public, his profile as a TV presenter and his personal integrity put him at the top of our list when it came to choosing a Brand Ambassador. We were delighted when he agreed to come on board and more importantly that he put his trust in the team here at the CHRC in Tralee. We hope that by sharing Dáithí’s hair restoration journey it will help to alleviate any doubts or concerns for people, male or female, who might be on the fence about seeking treatment for hair loss.”

In December 2022, Dáithí had his first consultation with Dr Mohamed Abdelrahim, the CHRC’s Surgical Doctor. During the consultation, Dr Mohamed explained in detail how the ARTAS iX hair restoration robotic procedure can restore a fuller hairline with no scalpels, stitches, or staples.

Dr Mohamed developed a bespoke customised treatment plan with Dáithí. Along with the procedure to restore Dáithí’s hairline, Dr Mohamed also recommended a course of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatments to enhance the density in Dáithí ’s hair.

Dr Moore explains that “PRP is the most recent addition to the CHRC’s range of hair restoration services. It is a novel procedure that uses the patient’s own blood platelets (a type of cell that helps with healing throughout the body) to increase hair density”.

Most hair restoration procedures take the entire day. Dáithí arrived early to the CHRC on the morning of his procedure before Christmas 2022 but was back home in Galway later that night where he began documenting his hair restoration journey.

Dáithí says: ”My procedure took the whole day but to be honest the day went so fast. I was amazed that there was no pain during the procedure and I was blown away with how fast I recovered. Dáithí has been back to the CHRC in Tralee as part of his post-procedure check-in and for his PRP treatments.

Dr Mohamed says: “The hair restoration journey is a gradual process and one that really requires patience. Dáithí was full of positivity from our first consultation. Post procedure, he was diligent in following the aftercare instructions which assured the best result. With each step of the journey, Dáithí embraced the process with a smile and full of enthusiasm. During our follow-up appointments and as his new hair began to grow, so did his confidence and self-esteem. When I showed Dáithí pictures of his hair before the procedure, he could not believe the difference. Transformative results such as Dáithí’s really make my job worthwhile and being part of his journey from beginning to end has been so rewarding.
Dáithí has documented his hair restoration journey openly and honestly with his own humorous spin on it.

Dáithí says: “9 months after my procedure I feel like a younger version of myself. Over the past few years my hair had really receded, and it was becoming really noticeable. I’m even walking around with a quiff now and I’m told it will only get better in the months to come. I’ve done a lot of good things in my life, but this is the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m so happy with how it turned out. Before I was worried that my hair was thinning too fast, now I’ve to make more time for the barber. Not a bad complaint at all!”

The CHRC will be showcasing Dáithí’s hair restoration journey on the Clinic’s social media sites: Instagram @chrc_bonsecours and Facebook @ Cosmetic and Hair Restoration Clinic.
