Senior Ladies Div 2

St. Mary’s 36 St. Brendan’s 40

St. Brendans Ladies took the short journey to Castleisland to kick start the 2016/17 season in Division 2 with their first game against local rivals St. Mary’s. The 1st quarter saw a tentative start from both sides scoring just 8 points each as the teams settled into the game.

Going into the second quarter St. Brendan’s started to look a bit more alive with some fantastic rebounds from both Roisín O’Shea and Katie Costello. The 3rd quarter saw the girls come to life a bit more with some great defensive work from Eimear Galvin and some fantastic scores from their Spanish senorita Isa Fernández.

Brendan’s improvement translated into scores as they clocked up an impressive 18 points in this quarter. The 4th quarter was basket for basket from both teams but Brendan’s Ladies came out on top winning on a scoreline of 36-40. It was a great start to the season and let’s hope we can keep up the good work. Well done too all.

ST. BRENDAN’S BOYS U10s

A special mention to Joanne Walsh and the U10 Boys who represented the club in the exhibition game between St. Brendan’s and Tralee Imperials at half-time in the Warriors Superleague game on Saturday. The boys showed a great range of skills and technical ability and played so well in front of the huge crowd at the Tralee Sports Complex. The team was each presented with a Tralee Warriors t-shirt by the Club Chairman Terry O’Brien as a memento of the event. Well done to Joanne and all the boys.

IRISH TV TRALEE WARRIORS

Congratulations to the Irish TV Tralee Warriors on securing their first Superleague victory with a 63-56 win over Belfast Star at a packed Tralee Sports Complex on Saturday night. In front of a sellout crowd the Warriors prevailed by seven at the end of a pulsating contest in which they trailed at the end of each of the first three quarters. We wish them the very best of luck and continued success as they face an away date with KUBS of Dublin in Greendale next Saturday night.
