O’Sullivan Financial Services Dingle Way Challenge 2017

The Dingle Way Challenge, kindly sponsored by O’Sullivan Financial Services is less than 6 weeks away and will take place on Sunday the 4th of June (keep this date free in your diaries).

This year’s route, the best yet, takes us from Dingle HarbourThis walk is ideal for groups, teams, friends and solo hikers and unlike previous challenges, you can either opt for The  towards Ventry and then on to Murrioch, via the ancient path, “Cosán na Naomh”.

There will then be a choice of 3 routes to bring us to the finish line and a truly deserved BBQ on arrival in Cloghane. The choices are:

Option 1, The Ultra route, 45km: Bus departs Blennerville at 5.30am and there is a walk from Dingle via the pilgrim path to Murrioch. There will be a brunch at An Ghaeltacht GAA Club, home of the famous O’Se brothers, and from there, climb Mount Brandon, descending via Sauce Creek and finally finishing at Cloghane.
Option 2, 34km: Departing Blennerville at 5.30am, walking from Dingle via the pilgrim path to Murrioch. There will be a brunch at An Ghaeltacht GAA Club, going back on the ancient path, walking through the valley, right under the Conor Pass and finishing in Cloghane.

Option 3,19km: Depart Blennerville at 7.15am and walk from Murrioch via Cosán na Naomh through the valley and under the Conor Pass to finish in Cloghane or walk from Murrioch and climb Mount Brandon, descending via Sauce Creek to finish in Cloghane.

Buses back to the clubhouse in Blennerville will be provided where there will be showers available for those who need it.

There will also be an evening of entertainment in Quane’s Bar Blennerville where participants will be treated to an evening of food and drinks. This Challenge gives locals and tourists alike a great opportunity to experience the stunning scenery that West Kerry has to offer in a fun, safe and challenging environment.

This year’s route is slightly shorter than last year but don’t be fooled as the Ultra section more than makes up for it. Registration can be completed online via this link: https://www.myclubfinances.com/memberships_cart_m.asp?LL_ID=1348&intMF_ID=2741

Minors

Unfortunately, our boys were unable to repeat their heroics of the previous week in the final played last Friday evening in Finuge losing out to Moyvane/Tarbert on a score line of 2-20 to our 10 points. It is a harsh defeat and it is hoped it will stand to them in the future as they have been impressive in the games leading up to the final.
