Juvenile Academy

U6: Well done to Hannah, Nicholas and Killian who put in a great training session last Sunday morning in the blistering sunshine but a huge well done to Ava who received our player of the week trophy by showing great skill and determination throughout the session. Keep up the good work.

U8: We had a very good under-8 session last Sunday morning and thanks to everyone for coming at the earlier start time.

In lovely sunshine all our future stars put their full energy into all of the activities and it was great to see Stephen fully recovered from his sore toe. From some of the kicking and shooting it is obvious that some of the under-8’s are practising at home.

We finished off the session with a game and Gearóid, Sharon, Stephen, Ryan and Sean were in the middle of the action all through. James, Keelin, Niamh and Sarah showed some good forward skill and Eddie, Chloe and Ródhan linked up defense to attack very well. James Daly was awarded the player of the week trophy, James always puts in a great effort at improving his skill so well done to James. Keep up the practice at home it is really beginning to show at the Academy sessions.

U10: St Pats under 10’s Academy were training in the beautiful sunshine last Sunday. There was a great turnout of players all eager to show off their skills. It was great to see all the players putting in a great effort especially Grainne Breen, Michael Enright, Darragh Murphy and Jack Costello. It’s important that all our U10 players keep practicing their skills at home now that the summer has arrived… Naomh Padraig abu

U12 Mixed: Our mixed team suffered another defeat this time to Sneem/Derrynane last Sunday. Full time scores were 5-18 to our 1-07. Next game is away to Cordal this Wednesday, the 21st with a late throw in of 7pm.

U12 Girls: U12 County League Plate Final

Our girls put up an impressive performance to win the Plate Final last Tuesday evening in Ballyduff. On the evening, our girls were totally on top for most parts of the half, putting the Finuge/St Senans defence under a lot of pressure. Half time scores: St Pats 3-05 Finuge/St Senans 0-0.

In the second half, the girls picked up from where they left off and began to dominate the game in all areas. This meant that the forwards got a good supply of the ball and they did not disappoint. It was a great team display overall with our defence standing very solid and limiting the opposition to only one score from a free in the second half as we ran out comfortable winners on a score line of St Pats 6-07 Finuge/St Senans 0-01.

Team: Sinead Murphy, Sarah Brett, Ailbhe Daly, Orlaith Murphy, Keelin Enright, Caoimhe O’Sullivan (0-1), Emily Roche, Caoimhe Dairo (0-4), Lisa Rowan (4-0), Rachel Mulgrew (1-0), Emma Healy, Siobhan O’Sullivan, Grainne Breen (1-2), Kayla O’Connor.

U14: Our team struggled against a very strong Ballymac team losing out on a score line of 5-22 to 0-3. Their next game will be against Annascaul/Lispole away this Monday, the 19th @ 7pm in Lispole.

U16: Our U16’s are due to play Ballymacelligot in the County League this Wednesday, the 21st at 7pm in Blennerville.

Seniors

SFL Divison 2, Round 6  St Pats 0-12 Listry 1-11

Listry overcame a lacklustre St Pats in a robust encounter in which Listry’s Damian Clifford scored 8 points with 6 from frees as they took the 2 points on offer.

Playing in sunny Blennerville under perfect conditions, the away side registered the first score of the game from a free converted by Damian Clifford.

St Pats’ Gary Savage levelled matters a minute later when he fisted the ballover the bar from close range despite pressure from Listry’s Kieran Murphy.

The only goal of the match came in the third minute when John Foley was allowed free passage unchallenged only to blast beyond the reach of Fizzy in goals for St Pats. St Pats re-grouped and went in search of a goal of their own through Brandon Boyle whose goal-bound strike was tipped over for a point by Colm Counihan in goals for Listry.

Luke Mulligan added back to back points for the home side in between a Damian Clifford free but it was the visitors that took a 1-06 to 0-7 lead to the break.

The visitors started the second half the same way as the first with Anthony Kennedy losing his marker to fist over, thereby extending Listry’s lead to three points after the first minute.

St pat’s David O’Callaghan added a brace, both from frees to cut the gap to just a point and after seven minutes of play, captain, Liam O’Sullivan pointed to level the match following an interchange of passes between David and Eoin Greaney.

There were a few unpleasant incidences which escaped the eyes of the referee, most notably a direct strike to the back of the head of St Pats Breandáin Savage by Listry’s goal scorer, John Foley and a couple of great saves within minutes by both goalkeepers as both teams went for the jugular but in the end, Listry held out to win by two points.

St Pats: John Fitzgerald, Tommy O’Connor, Kieran O’Sullivan, Kieran Dwyer, Luke Mulligan (0-2), Kevin O’Shea, Jeffrey Foley, Liam O’Sullivan (0-1), Liam Poff, Brandon Boyle (0-1), David O’Callaghan (0-6,4f), Brendan Poff, Tommy Lynch, Breandáin Savage, Gary Savage (0-1)

Subs: Paul McMahon (0-1) for Tommy O’Connor, Eoin Greaney for Brandon Boyle, Eoin Sayers for Gary Savage

Our next match is this Saturday, the 24th of June when we will be at home to Killarney Legion in a rescheduled back game. Throw-in time is at 7.30pm.
