Dingle Way Challenge 2018

This year’s annual Dingle Way Challenge will be held on the 3rd of June (only 2 weeks away!) and as usual, there will be two challenges: The standard DWC, which is a 46km walk with the route going from from Brandon Point – Halla Le Cheile (there will be breakfast provided here) – Fermoyle Beach – Stradbally (Light lunch at the Castlegregory Golf Club) – Castlegregory – Lower Camp (Water/Toilet/Bus in Fitzgeralds) – Blennerville ( There will be BBQ in Quanes). Please note that buses will leave from Blennerville at 7am sharp for this option.

And then the ultra route (about 58km!) where the trek will begin in Feothanach at 6am and through to Halla Le Cheile and to Brandon via Sauce Creek. Again, buses will leave Blennerville at 5am sharp and as usual, there will be buses going back to Blennerville after the walk.

Registration will be €45 on the day and online (stpatsgaaclub.com or myclubfinances.com/memberships) after April 15th.

There is also a family section which starts on the beach from Aughacasla to Fitzgeralds and it is about 6km. Juveniles are free but they can support by taking a sponsorship card, which has been distributed to the various coaches and mentors. Adults can still register on line or through your child’s coach. Help support your club while having a fun filled day.

Juvenile Academy

U6: By default Aaron Costello won player of the week today!! He tried really hard throughout the session & his chances were high since Mum forgot to bring the trophy from home this week!!
We had a good session with a fun warm up for all, & 4 groups of 5/6 for circuits of ball skills & agility. We managed to fit in little matches today which although chaotic, were fun!!
It’s great to have 3 new boys joined us in recent weeks, Liam, Ben and Luke you are very welcome.
Continue the skills at home kids, we are all getting fitter, stronger & ball skills are really coming along. Well done

U8: We had a very good session last Sunday and the enthusiasm of all our players is making the choice of Player of the Week more difficult so very well done to Jace Flynn on receiving the trophy, Jace is only in the squad for a few weeks and is putting in a good effort at our Sunday sessions.

We had a very good session last Sunday with some great hand passing and kicking skills being displayed. The session finished with a great game on the main field where Chloe delivered some great kick outs, James and Blake combining to kick some lovely points at one end while Stephen and Hugh were scoring well at the other end. Eddie showed some great tackling, Aoife, Lainey and Tommy moved the ball well throughout the game with Bruce and Jace providing good support.

Sponsorship cards for the Dingle Way Challenge were distributed at the Academy on Sunday last. There will be a family section as part of the DWC which will start at Tralee Bay and finishes at Fitzgerald’s in Camp. This is a nice way for our younger members to get involved in the Dingle Way Challenge and also the help in raising funds for their Club.

U10: Our u10’s trained in the sunshine on our astro turf under the watchful eyes of their coaches and mentors. There was a good turnout of players eager to show off their skills as well as putting in great effort throughout the session. Training continues next week at 10.30am.

U12: For our first match of the second phase of the County League, we hosted a good Valentia side last Sunday evening in what turned out to be a cracking game of football. Despite missing a few players, we created some scoring chances as the first half ended at St Pats 2-2 to Valentia’s 1-5. The away side came out stronger in the second half and put pressure on our backline who were made to work tirelessly and often forcing Valentia to kick points from further out field. Valentia were however more clinical in their point scoring as the match ended on a score line of St Pats 4-3 to Valentia’s 3-15. It’s important ye all continue to attend our training sessions and also keep practicing yer skills at home during the week. The training and match schedule for the week will be circulated shortly Naomh Pádraig Abú !!

U17: Fixtures for Round 1 of the Kerry U17 competition commencing this Wednesday 23rd May in Cromane is as follows: @ 7.25pm we play John Mitchels and @ 8.05pm, we play St Michaels-Foilmore.

Games are 9-a side and they last 12 minutes a half. Best of luck to Kieran and the team.
