U-14s:

Our u14’s put on a great display of football against laune rangers in the semi final of the Central League on Friday evening in Killorglin. This was a tight encounter right to the final whistle.

The opening score of the game came from Nathan Rowan after receiving a great ball from Danny Greaney followed by a lovely point from Fergal O’ Brien. Ian McCarthy bought off some great saves in goals throughout the game and was assisted by the very capable back line of Niall McCarthy, Damien Quirke, Ciaran O’Donoghue, Brian Teahan, Martin Savage and Cathal Fitzgibbon who only allowed Laune Rangers to score 2 points in the first half while Patrick Dowling got 2 lovely points, one from a free and a great point from Ali Gardezi leaving the half time score St. Pats 0-5 Laune Rangers 0-2.

In the second half St. Pats opened the score line after Patrick being rewarded a free and  was taken by Fergal and a mistake by the Laune Rangers goalie allowed Patrick to tap in a goal.

However Laune Rangers immediately responded with a goal narrowing the gap to 2 points. St. Pats followed with 2 points by Fergal and Patrick both from frees after Danny and Darragh Moriarty were fouled  but Laune Rangers again replied with a goal.

Jamie won a great ball and passed it into Fergal who slotted it home for St. Pats third goal but was cancelled out by a goal from Laune Rangers which left the scores even.

Some great skill from Jamie o’ Brien scoring a soccer style goal added to St. Pats tally and a quick reply of a point from Laune Rangers which they followed up with a goal to leave St. Pats down by a point.

However St. Pats team showed great heart in the last few minutes of this very close game and there hard work paid off with a great goal from Luke O’ Carroll to insure victory of a point.

This was a great victory considering they beat St. Pats earlier in the year at home! Everyone did their bit with some great performances by all who togged out on the night. The final is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7 o’ clock in Na Gaeil. All support would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck boys!!

Seniors:

Credit Union Senior Football League, 2015 Div. 3, Round 9, St Pat’s Blennerville –  11 points V Keel – 10 points

This game was played in Blennerville on Saturday evening, the weather was excellent and the pitch was in great condition. St Pat’s started well and were rewarded with a good point from David O’Callaghan on the 2nd minute.

The game then went through a period with defences dominating and scores hard to come by. We had to wait until the 17th minute for Keel to equalise with a pointed free from Aaron Murphy, St Pat’s forwards now began to get on top and we had three more pts from frees by David O’Callaghan and two pts from play by Willie Hurley and Brendan Poff.

We went in at half time with a two point lead 6pts to 4pts for Keel.St Pat’s started the second half with great attitude and had early points from Kevin O’Shea and Willie Hurley to leave us 4 points up.

We then had a great chance of a goal but the ball went just wide this appeared to spring Keel into life and they got the next four pts to leave the game at 8 pts each by midway in the second half.  St Pat’s upped the gears again and were awarded a penalty when Brendan Poff was pulled down, unfortunately David’s well struck penalty went over the bar.

Keel then attacked up the field and Fizzy was in action making a great save, the game was very even at this stage and could have went either way. St Pat’s were very lucky when Tom Ladden soloed through and went to fist one over but it went into the net instead.

St Pat’s then attacked up the field and were awarded a free which David sent over the bar to leave the final score 11pts to 10 pts. This was a good result for St Pat’s and with a bit of luck going our way should put us in contention in the promotion stakes. Well done to all involved and a speedy recovery to Fizzy.

Team: J Fitzgerald, C Moore P McMahon, L Mulligan, K Dwyer, K O’Shea (1pt), J Conway, J Foley, L Poff, G Savage, B Poff © (1pt), T Lynch, D O’Callaghan (6pts), A Greaney (1pt), W Hurley (2pts). Subs played: P Bailey, B Savage, J Costello
