Dingle Way Challenge 2016

It’s that time of the year again!

Yes, The Dingle Way Challenge is upon us and will take place this Sunday the 5th of June. Come and experience the stunning scenery of West Kerry and the Atlantic Ocean as you walk along the most westerly peninsula in Europe, overlooking the Blasket Islands and Skellig Rock and also savour the magic of Inch Beach.

This walk is ideal for groups, teams, friends and solo hikers and you can either opt for The Dingle Way Challenge, a 45km walk which will involve a mixture of beach walks, grass paths and road walking or The Ultra Dingle Way Challenge, a 57km walk which starts at the foothills of the famous Conor Pass, taking you through a tough 12km mountain route across the peninsula before joining up with the DWC route.

This Challenge gives locals and tourists alike a great opportunity to experience the beauty that West Kerry has to offer in a fun, safe and challenging environment. All funds raised will be used for the development projects the club is undertaking to enhance our facilities for our players, members and the greater community. Register online at

Juvenile Academy

There will be no Academy this Sunday due to our main fundraiser of the year, The Dingle way Challenge. There will be a family section for this walk and it will start at the church in Curraheen to St. Pats pitch. The time for this walk will be made known closer to the date.

U6’s: We saw another great turnout from our U6’s last Sunday morning. Blake Bowler and Rian Flynn put in a great training but Sarah Greaney stood out on this occasion winning the player of the week trophy!!

U8’s: Our U8’s had a brilliant training session on Sunday morning last. Having played 5 go games mid-week, the enthusiasm was great throughout training. Darragh Murphy, Gary Scollard and Sarah Fitzgerald played very well and player of the week was presented to Keelin Synnott

U10’s: St Pats U-10’s had a busy week. We took part in a well organised Fun Go Games blitz last Thursday  in Churchill against our near neighbours from the St Brendan’s area. All our St Pats future stars displayed great use of their skills and performed very well on the evening. Thomas Sheehy, Orlaith Murphy and Mark O’Brien in defence caught and cleared every ball that came their way. Diarmuid Waugh and Daniel Sheehy ran themselves into the ground around the middle and ran at the opposition at every opportunity.  Up front our forward line lead by Fionn Dairo and ably assisted by Millie O’Brien, Grainne Breen and Killian O’Mahony all got some great scores for their team. The coaches were delighted with the effect each player made on the evening. It’s great to see the continuous improvement of the skills each player is showing on every outing and it’s a joy to watch. We were back in Academy action last Sunday morning. Congrats and well done to Mark O’Brien on getting the player of the week. It is very important that ye continue to practice yer skills at home during the week. Naomh Padraig Abu…

U12’s: Our U12’s hosted Spa, Killarney in Round 3 of the County League last Sunday. Our team played well but a very strong Spa team prevailed in the end. Training continues this Friday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Girls: Last week’s training was cancelled due to a school tour however training continues the Friday under the guidance of Denis Healy. Training time is 2.30pm.
