Academy

Our neighbours, Kerins O’Rahillys will visit our Academy on Sunday next for U8 & 10 fun games. The games will commence at 11am and all support would be appreciated as these will be the final games of the 2016 season. Players are expected to be at the field by 10.45 am and don’t forget your gum shields, gloves and boots.

U6’s: Our U5’s and new U6’s had their training session indoors in Blennerville School. Well done to Paddy Flynn, Bruce McMillan and player of the week, Harry Maguire who put in a great training session last Sunday morning by showing great skill and determination. Our more established U6 players had a fun session against their counterparts from Annascaul and it was a delight to see our future stars in action.

U8’s: Our u8s played a blitz last weekend against Na Gaeil & Annascaul in Blennerville. All players acquitted themselves very well and a great morning of footballl was enjoyed by all. Thanks to our friends from Annascaul & Na Gaeil for visiting our Academy.

U10’s: St Pats U10’s took on our West Kerry neighbours, Annascaul in beautiful sunshine at home last Sunday morning. All our St Pats future stars played very well and we had a huge variety of scorers on the day. Zach Howarth, Thomas Sheehy, Orlaith Murphy, Eddie Stack, Kayla O’Connor and Aiden Hayes defended well and gave it their all trying to keep the opposition from scoring. In the middle Fionn Dairo and Mark O’Brien worked very hard and linked up well with our forwards. Up front Millie O’Brien, Rory Kelliher, Jamie Lynch, Killian O’Mahony, Grainne Breen, Conor Daly and Alisha got their hands on plenty of ball and worked some lovely score for their team. All the coaches were delighted with the effort each player gave. We at due to play Kerins O’Rahillys at home this Sunday. We’ll be in contact to confirm same during the week. It is important ye keep practicing yer skills at home during the week…Naomh Padraig Abu !!

Senior Team

St Brendan’s Senior League Final

St Pats 1-19 Ballymac 2-10

St Pats St Brendan's Senior League Winners

St Pats team, St Brendan’s Senior League Winners.

St Pats won the St Brendan’s League final last Sunday, played in glorious sunshine and warm weather in Blennerville. St Pats started the match in blistering form, scoring four points without reply from David O’Callaghan, Willie Hurley, Eoin Sayers and Liam O’Sullivan within the first 8 minutes. Ballymac got on the score sheet from a free taken by Aiden Breen after Eric Teahan fouled Vinny Horan in the 9th minute. St Pats responded with 3 unreplied points from the Hurley brothers, Kieran and Willie and Jordan Conway, who carried the ball a long distance and was made to work for his point. Ballymac then hit a purple patch halfway into the first half with 4 unreplied points of their own.

The pick of the points came from Thomas O’Connor, who found space for himself to point from the left side of the pitch. The first goal of the match was scored in the 21st minute by Jordan Conway, who found the net despite the best efforts of the Ballymac defence to prevent it. Ballymac’s Aideen Breen scored the last point of the half to leave the half time scores as St Pats 1-09 Ballymac 0-06.

The second half started with St Pats dominating from the throw in with the Hurley brothers combining for Kieran to point within seconds into the half. St Pats dominance was rewarded with 4 straight points for an unassailable lead. St Pat’s John Fitzgerald was called into action in the 40th minute and what a response! Aidan Breen bore through on the St Pats goal and he let fly a thunderous shot that was saved by Fizzy with the ball about to cross over the line, but for the timely kick by Tommy Lynch, who cleared the ball off the line. Shortly afterwards, Aidan Breen, who was by far the best player for Ballymac, scored a goal to reduce the points deficit to 7 with fifteen minutes to go. Jake Foley came off injured after going into a tackle with his marker and we wish hium a speedy recovery. Ballymac’s second goal came late in the second half and was scored by Eanna Reidybut it was too late to spark a comeback as St Pats ran out winners on a score line of 1-19 to Ballymac’s 2-10.

Overall, it was a very clean and entertaining match and credit is due to both sets of players for playing the match in a very sportsmanlike manner as there were no cards issued on either side.

Team: John Fitzgerald, Kieran Dwyer, Kieran O’Sullivan, Eric Teahan, Jordan Conway (1-1), Eoin Sayers (0-2), Jake Foley, Liam O’Sullivan (0-1), Liam Poff, Tommy Lynch, Brendan Poff, Gary Savage (0-2), David O’Callaghan (0-4,1f), Willie Hurley (0-6), Kieran Hurley (0-3,1f)
