Status Orange Wind Warning Issued For Kerry

A STATUS Orange Wind warning has been issued for Kerry and much of the rest of the country as Storm Isha approaches.

The Yellow warning issued yesterday has been upgraded to Orange by Met Eireann with very strong southwest winds bringing severe and damaging gusts over Sunday evening and early Monday morning.

Impacts may include large coastal waves with wave overtopping, very difficult travelling conditions, the potential for fallen trees and damage to power lines in some areas.

The warning is valid from 5pm on Sunday to 2am on Monday. However, a Status Yellow wind warning will be in effect from 11am on Sunday until it goes Orange at 5pm and it reverts back to Yellow from 2am to 4am on Sunday.

It will also be very wet on Sunday with spells of heavy rain forecast for the afternoon, evening and night.
