KILLARNEY is gearing up for one of the biggest events of the year when it hosts the Killarney Adventure Race on Saturday, October 3.
The massively popular sporting event, now in its 5th year, is expected to attract over 2,500 adventurers to the area for a day that was voted the Best Outdoor Event in 2014.
It promises to test competitors, many of them Ireland’s top endurance athletes, in a number of areas including running, cycling and kayaking in the highly anticipated event.
For those wishing to take part, but are unsure of their ability to complete the arduous course, the event is now offering five distances for all levels of fitness.
These include a 27km Sport route, 48km Dual route (no kayak), 50km Semi Pro route, 60km Pro route and the 70km Expert route.
After a challenging race, competitors and spectators will be able to enjoy the festival-like atmosphere, music, food, kids adventure race and after party in the Gleneagle Hotel.
“We have a route that will suit you, the adventure race is for groups of friends and family to come down to Killarney and experience the natural beauty of Killarney in a safe and fun way, while getting fit in the process. It’s not too competitive and everyone helps each other around the routes. The after party in the Gleneagle Hotel is legendary and a great weekend is guaranteed,” said Oliver Kirwan, the event organiser from Elite Event Management.
