Three Kerry Heritage Projects To Share Over €270,000 In Funding

THREE Kerry heritage projects are to receive over €270,000 between them under this year’s Historic Structures Fund (HSF).

Minister of State for Heritage and Electoral Reform, Malcolm Noonan, today announced that 95 Heritage projects across the country will benefit from a total of €4.5 million under this year’s HSF.

The three Kerry projects to receive funding are Knockreer House and Gardens, Killarney €200,000 where funding will aid towards repair and renovation of the structure to allow it to be used a visitor centre to showcase the lakes.

Eask Tower, Cahroo Hill, West Dingle will receive €33,000. Eask Tower is a deteriorating structure in urgent need of repair and stabilisation. Funding will restore and build resilience into structure using conservation industry resources.

Molahiffe House, Castlefarm, Firies will receive €37,500 for full structural repair of roof internally and externally, to repair defects to masonry fabric, rainwater goods to be replaced, replacement of PVC windows with original sash windows and repair of existing sash windows.

Minister for Education and Kerry T.D Norma Foley welcomed the news saying; “This funding provides vital assistance for the maintenance and upkeep of sites of significant historical importance in Kerry and I welcome this confirmation from Minister Malcom Noonan.”
