Just in case you want to get some fresh air over the next few days, there are a few things on in town and beyond despite the restrictions…

1. Go for a Christmas morning run…

Christmas falls on a Saturday so that means it’s Parkrun Day. Get the morning off to a healthy start by taking part at the usual time of 9.30am in the Town Park.

Also, the GOAL mile will be taking place at 11am after the Parkrun if you want to get involved for a great cause. See more details here.

2. Then head for a dip in Banna…

There’s no official swim taking place in Fenit, but Banna Sea Rescue is organising one on Banna beach at 12.30pm.

There will be a few restrictions in recognition of the threat of COVID with no traditional gathering for refreshments afterwards.

Given the current public health advice, Banna Strand is an ideal outdoor venue, with a sizeable stretch of pristine beach.

Swimmers will be sent into the ocean by Santa three times and for good measure lifeboat crews will be on hand keeping a watchful eye. For more details, click here

3. Walk off the turkey…

Join Michael ‘Fox’ O’Connor and friends for the annual Bill Kirby Memorial Walk on St Stephen’s Day in aid of the Kerry Hospice Foundation. It starts from the Brogue Inn at 11.30am but the fun and entertainment begins from 11am.
