AFTER issuing a Status Yellow Thunderstorm and Rain warning for Ireland earlier this morning, Met Eireann have now upgraded it to Status Orange until 6pm this evening.
Thunderstorms and very heavy showers, producing significant rainfall accumulations over short time periods, could occur in some areas causing flash flooding and very difficult travelling conditions with reduced visibility and even power outages.
Judging by the rainfall radar on the Met.ie website, it looks like the Tralee area will escape the worst of the rain, but heavy showers could still occur.
Kerry Council are strongly advising the public to avoid beaches and open exposed areas, and to take account of reduced visibility on roads.
