Tim Defends Himself After Kerry v Clare Match Programme Controversy

A TRALEE man who provided some stats for the Kerry v Clare match programme on Sunday, has defended himself after confusion over the omission of a famous Clare victory.

Tim Slattery from the Austin Stacks club is a renowned statistician and Kerry football historian. He sent a list of the Kerry v Clare Munster semi-final meetings over the years to the Munster Council to be published in the match programme.

However, the match programme stated they were Munster championship meetings and not semi-final matches, causing bemusement among Clare people who wondered why their famous 1992 victory over the Kingdom had been erased from history.

This caused a bit of controversy and the issue was mentioned briefly on The Sunday Game that night.

Tim rightly took to facebook to defend himself and put a screenshot of the original email (below) which stated clearly that the stats were for Munster semi-finals and not every championship meeting.

The original email from Tim and (below) how it appeared in the programme.

So it was whoever was involved in setting the text for the programme where the error lies, not with Tim. Knowing how meticulous the Stacks man is when is comes to his stats, we wouldn’t have doubted you for a minute Tim!
